But smil2yuv is very slow (hi cpu and 3 fps).
Tryied with some optimization (-O3) with no differences.

Re: nfs warning: mount version older than kernel

I migrated from 2.4 to 2.6 kernel.

I reinstalled all nfs-related user-space programs with no luck.
The warning message was still there.

But I forgot to rebuild the automount package
I use autofs to mount nfs shares: I think /usr/lib/autofs/mount_nfs.so was the problem.
Now the message ...

Generally speaking, 32bit plugins work with 32bit browsers, and 64bit plugins works with 64bit browsers.

In fact on my dual Opteron box, Netscape recognize Shockwave Flash and Acrobat plugins, while Firefox recognize Java (both 64bit built from scratch).

32bit emulation support does not help. I ...

amd64 & kde-i18n

I noticed the current version of kde is 3.2.1, but kde-i18n-3.2.1 is masked. Emerging kde-i18n will install 3.2.0 and downgrade part of kde.

Please unmask 3.2.1 if possible.

The above combination requires that you use -funsafe-math-optimizations, otherwise you're breaking Acovea's method. Removing it from your profile will give you an entirely different set of results.

Acovea method works fine for specific problems, the profiles are always kept separate. IMHO putting ...

I don't know if nbench is the best choice...
These are Native Mode (a.k.a. Algorithm Level) tests; benchmarks designed to expose the capabilities of a system's CPU, FPU, and memory system.

I still don't know what the best benchmark would be though... I asked Scott in another thead, still waiting ...

I wonder what it'll take to rewrite acovea to use user time instead of real time, so it won't be neccessary to run the tests while the system is otherwise left idle.

I tried to benchmark many programs (mainly for floating point) in working environments. Both system & user time are NOT accurate. I ...

Now DRI with radeon9000m works; glxgears returns 1436fps ... not so fast but better than previous 260fps :-)
