I used to download from ibiblio at 350 K/s, but since the new livecd release i can barely download at 45 K/s. Random thougths welcome.

I noticed it too, without changing anything. I have DSL, but my downloads recently have been around 30 kbs from ibiblio. I even went out and did a DSL speed test, and everything is ok, so it is definetly their site. Hopefully things pick up.

yup, we all seem to be having problems... i know a guy who has a T3 connection to his work and he is downloading at a pathetically slow 8.3kb/s!!!

they say adding more mirrors to ibiblio should do the trick. oh well, i guess we'll have to wait and see!

have they restricted bandwith or something ?

just curious, maybe prozilla could help ;)

Cheers

I would highly recommend using an ibiblio/gentoo mirror to get your speeds back up to scratch. You can find a list here:

http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/where.xml

Place the correct URL into your /etc/make.globals file. For example, I currently use the Danish sunsite mirror, so the applicable lines in the make.globals file looks like this:

Code:

GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ftp.sunsite.dk/mirrors/gentoo"

My speeds are back up to 58k per second on my DSL now 8)

 What is now worse is I just got an error while compiling kdelibs 3.05a in makefile line 88 :(

this has laready taken 17 hours to download and compile kde

I just did an emerge sync and restarted emerge kde

looks like it has started from the kde libs though not from beginning :)

try emerge prozilla, edit make.conf and remove the # from the prozilla line fetch ...........

this speeds things up a lot for downloading

I take it there are plenty of people updating or instaling their 1.4 release candidates then :D

Cant say I blame them I already have gentoo on one other machine and it kicks butt

doing a search in the forums though I can not see any other posts relating to my error in make file on line 88 for kde-libs 3.0.5a

should I fle a bug report now or wait and see if it happens again ?

Maybe a new post and a bug report would be nice...
