does such a game exist? something like quake2. all the open-source first person shooters i've seen are multiplayer games.

"Quake 2" (or any id game for that matter, they're all the same) and "plot" should never be used together.

AFAIK, Beyond messages like "You must invade the factory and steal the quad!" in the Cube single-player missions, there aren't any open-source FPS's with anything resembling a plot.

where do i get the gamedata?

The directory last examined was: .
Has the game been installed and
are all game files lowercase?

not from the commercial CD, i hope. i'm looking for something that's free. |

| okay, i'm going to try out quake2, transfusion-bin, and industri, which i think all come with the game data. let me know if i'm missing any. |

| quake2 requires the quake 2 cd-rom (else you get shareware). The other two may work fine without the quake 1 data. |
