First off, you might want to add a poll to this thread.

I personally live with three other guys (mmm, college). We get standard digital cable plus 1.5Mbps downstream speeds. Not sure about upstream. Either symmetric or 256kbps. Our monthly bill is $97 (for tv and internet). If you just count the net connection, i'd say somewhere around $40-50.

512 Down, 256 Up on ADSL. Never a hitch and better upstream than my friends on cable :). ~£25pm.

belgian is great for broadband : coverage everywhere and choice between cable and adsl
currently i have 128kbps up / 768 kbps down but al line are being upgraded to 3mbps down ... cable is 128kbit up / 10mbps down max (more realistic day to day speeds are 5-8 mbps)

adsl is 37e , dunno about cable :)

and u can get adsl 512k up / 8mbit down for 60e if u live in the right town or so ( i don't :( )

Technically 2 Mbit SDSL, but limited to 1024kb down / 256 kb up at the next hop. That's 59 €uro / month. :-(

Larde.

Haven´t measured the actual speed, but I have a 10Mbit RJ45 connection in the wall.

800k/s download (on Direct Connect for example) is not unsual.

Wouldn't that be quite expensive? If you pay telephone per minute, maybe you don't...

Wow, forgot to say that I'm not paying anything for my 10Mbit line, only installation for about 50€.
Guess it is integrated in the rent, although the rent is the same whether you use the connection or not.

I'm not sure the speed of my connection. I think its 1.5 mbit. I've gotten 800-900KBytes/sec (not kbits) downloaf quite often. I also used to be able to upload at about the same speed, but its since been capped at about 60K/sec

No, I just pay 20€/month, regardless how much I use the internet. Actually I did not _completely install it over modem now that I think about it, I did download OOo at school and burned it there.

Hm... it seems like you have 10Mbit connection. No, maybe there is proxy server somewhere. With squid I can sometimes download 5MBytes/s.

hmm... that sounds a little excessive, its just our regular cable internet service here. but its not a very heavily populated town so it never really gets slow.

10 Mbps / 128 kbps
At home I get about 600 kB/s when downloading from fast servers.
At college I have same connection, shared with 13 other people :-) goes well but for one thing: the ISP limits the bandwith to 10 GB / 30 days of which 1.5 GB upload max. And with 13 people that might go wrong sometimes ;-) If you go over it, the ISP caps you @ 56 kbps until the download from last 30 days goes below 9.8 GB / 1.3 GB. Believe me, when @ 56 kbps with 13 people, you can't even get all the M$ messengers to work at the same time :-)

Cost of it is 39 € / month.
