su -
cd /usr/portage/net-www/opera
wget xpto.org/~dbcm/opera-7.50.ebuild
ebuild opera-7.50.ebuild digest
emerge opera-7.50.ebuild

the opera-7.50.ebuild is the opera-7.50_beta1.ebuild with OPERAVER changed

PS: and the beta1 chaged to final from the SRC_URI

cheers

http://m50.ryd.student.liu.se/ebuilds/opera-7.50.ebuild

Has the option to install without the email/chat program. USE flag "operanom2". Taken from the opera-7.23-r1 ebuild.

EDIT: Woohoo tux's lil' helper. :D

EDIT2: dbcm, a tip, If you don't want to lose your custom ebuilds when portage is synced use a portage overlay, look in make.conf for PORTDIR_OVERLAY.

Hi,

Have you managed to make Opera work with Aspell?

I've emerged aspell and aspell-uk and Opera won't recognise it. When I start Opera I get:
Code:
opera: spellcheck.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
opera: Could not initialize spell checker interface. Generic failure (-1)

I ran "revdep-rebuild" to fix anything broken and no matter how many times I run it, it re-emerges Opera trying to fix broken dependencies . . .
Code:
Checking dynamic linking consistency...
  broken /opt/opera/lib/opera/plugins/operamotifwrapper-3 (requires libXm.so.3)
 done.
  (/root/.revdep-rebuild.3_rebuild)

Assigning files to ebuilds... done.
  (/root/.revdep-rebuild.4_ebuilds)

Evaluating package order... done.
  (/root/.revdep-rebuild.5_order)

All prepared. Starting rebuild...
emerge --oneshot --nodeps  =net-www/opera-7.50

I don't know how to fix this. Could it be something to do with file access rights (don't know how to set it up)

Any ideas much appreciated!

Thank you MIT_Service! :)

It's now up and running, thanks to the Opera "translate" dropdown menu :D . . . because if I were to rely on my knowledge of the German language, then I would probably end up wiping out my system

Opera is so cool, just found out the "hold right mouse button + scrollwheel" function by mistake.

(scrolls through a list of open tabs)

We should have an Opera tips and trix thread. :)

Guys,

I keep getting this broken dependency . . . despite now running Opera-7.50-r1:

Am I the exception? Any suggestions as to how I could fix it?

Where is this dropdown menu and option?

I can't seem to find it.

Also, after I emerged final 7.5, now there is a newer 7.5-r1.

I emerged that one, now. Which is the final final?

Hi mope,

The sequence of releases are e.g.:
    Opera-7.50
    . . . -r1
    . . . -r2
    . . .
    . . . -rn
each new revision has a higher -r number. Check the ChangeLog in your /usr/Portage for details of each revision.

To find the "Translate" drop down menu, first select the text you would like to translate and then right-click your mouse.
