Don't know what to do. It's a dep for Mail-SpamAssassin and I'd like to get it to work. All the other perl modules for SpamAssassin emerged successfully.

Still not getting Digest-HMAC to install... got the same error as above. Followed all instructions.
What exactly did you do with emerge --deep? Exact command?
