While compiling devfsd it quit saying:
Code:

check_kernel.c: In function `check_kernel_version':
check_kernel.c:11: can't find a register in class `BREG' while reloading `asm'
make: *** [check_kernel.o] Error 1


The solution seems to be to remove '-fPIC' from your CFLAGS (after that it works fine). More ppl. will probably encounter this, so I thought I could just as well give the solution. :)

Thanks - got the above error when compiling avidemux and devfsd. Removing -fPIC from the CFLAGS allowed it to compile properly. Maybe it should be added to the strip-flags of those ebuilds...? Guess I'll file a bug report.

That thread saved my day! Same problem exists with modutils and module-init-tools. Removing -fpic and modutils compiles fine! Thanks!
