Hi,

I have just installed Galeon 1©3©10© One problem, and so far it is only with the Gentoo forums main page, is the formating is all up the crap© No Borders, text all over the place, but when I go into one of the forum topics ¥for example 'othe things gentoo'¤ all is good again© What could be causing this??

regards Greg

Yeah, weird s*!t© Anyway, on mine it is all looking o©k© now, I refreshed the page in the cache, and all is good© The forums are my home page© But, when I try to post to a topis, and it refers me to log in, I enter my details, and I recieve a error page, but if I click on the link at the top of the page to log in, it works, and then I can go back and post© Also, I can not change the font in these forums ¥size or style¤ and neither in overclockers©com forums ¥similar forum design¤© But on normal sites like google and nvidia, and so on so forth, it all adjusts perfectly© Why would this be© The font size I am seeing here on these forums is so small, I get a headache looking at them© In Mozilla, they are o©k©, and adjust o©k© But not in Galeon©

Also, I would go back to the earlier stable release of Galleon, but I does not work fullstop for me© Which is why I installed the newer one© I love Galeon, so someone please help me out here!!

regards Greg

I submitted a bug report to bugzilla, bug #34343. I think it is a problem with galeon, possibly a typo that they did in the source code. I might try re-emerging galeon again when I hear back from the bug squashers.

Have you tried re-emerging galeon?

I noticed on mine that an
Code:
emerge -Up world

says no updates are available, but an
Code:
emerge -up world

shows several packages with updates along with the few downgrades.

Code:
brian@big_squirt brian $ emerge -Up world
>>> --upgradeonly implies --update... adding --update to options.

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies ...done!

brian@big_squirt brian $ emerge -up world

What are your results? There may be a link to our problem. Note the gdk-pixbuf upgrade required by the galeon downgrade.

Yeah, I have my system up to date© The only package it wants to downgrade is galeon© I only installed the latest galeon package, as the one marked as stable did not work for me© This version works, but with formatting problems© I do not want to try to go back, cause I am pretty sure it still will not work ¥I was having problems with gconf, but no matter what I tried, could not get it right¤© To go back, I would have to re-compile mozilla, blah blah© Done that too many times in the last few days©

I wonder where they have stuffed up, and hope it gets fixed soon©

I haven't had any weird formatting issues with galeon 1.3.10 until this thread... all the periods in greg32's posts are copyright symbols.

I re-emerge mozilla & galeon after manually updating those few other packages and it still doesn't work properly.

I don't think KDE is part of your problem because I don't have it, althouth I do have QT installed.

Mine also now screws up the forum index. I found that middle clicking a link will always disply it correctly in a new tab. Often times clicking the topic header will reload the same page (with a few additional formating tags in the url) and display it correctly. I also found that using the cursor arrows to move aroud typed text will not always let you return to the last character typed. It stops one character short.

I see that yours is still substituting copyright symols for periods. Submitting anything with mine forces very wide page widths, no wordwrap in the post.

I have had no response from the bug squashers yet after the first ????

Hey! even epiphany is having the cursor bug in the posting text. Maybe that one is a mozilla bug. I'll have to report that as well.

greg32 , one of the bug squashers helped me track down the trouble I was having with galeon. It turned out to be an encoding problem. Edit Preferences=>Language=>encoding to a correct one. Mine was set for the first one available [Arabic (IBM-862)].

I am eve posting this using galeon-1.3.11a (fixed tarball)
