Ive got two questions
do you have to enable all of the patches that are included in the config? or are some just patches that are used without being in the config?
and could you include in the info file you post where in the config the different options is, since I use my old config (like I think most does) and don't feel like going trought the entire thing just to find the changes of the patches. (is there such a list for the patches that mm add, I would be happy to see it too) |

I think "undesireable" is the more appropriate term. _________________ A smoking section in a restaurant is like a urinating section in a swimming pool. |

No, under no certain terms for 2 reasons:
Technical: Supermount-ng is really incompatible with some of the work in -mm and porting it would take forever.
Methodical: In kernel automounting is wrong - this should be handled in userspace and including supermount in love-sources only encourages this wrong pratise instead of forcing people to write a good stateless mounting system in userspace. |

Ok, next request:
http://varg.dyndns.org/psi/pub/code has this patch which adds power management (Processor C3 idling) for AMD76x chipsets. It's a module, so hopefully it shouldn't break the kernel for people who don't need it.
It applies to -test8-love3 too, with one warning about an unused int. Have yet to test it, but I can't reboot right now. _________________ Please put [SOLVED] in your topic if you are a moron. |

Nope check the posting times - you asked for the patch at 5.31 and I answered you at 5.33 that it had been merged so it took me less than 2 mins considering post times etc. |

Well I know what I am going to be playing aroudn with tonight (BTW, make a new thread, this one is under test 8 still)
Maybe it is time to reboot my server and update it from test 5 mm1. I dunno, I will see the stability of this one _________________ Really, I'm not out to destroy Microsoft. That will just be a completely unintentional side effect.

For anyone wanting an ebuild of this, just rename the file to 2.6.0-test9-love1.bz2 and copy to your /usr/portage/distfiles
cp love-sources-2.6.0_beta8-r3.ebuild to love-sources-2.6.0_beta9-r1.ebuild and modify the following lines
| Code: |
32c32
< unpack ${KV}.patch.bz2

Actually we already have that patch in love1, but the variable isn't inited to 60, I think it's part of Linus' request for a version of the patch that could be set at boot time. |

Very cool Thank you very much. Ran into some problems copying my config from beta9-mm1, so I ran make menuconfig to verify my choices, recompling now. _________________ --

reporting back: it compiled fine apart from
the patch telling me some part of bttv was
already patched or summat.. but i can still
watch tv, so i doubt it was something big.
the framebuffer console works fine, no evil
white dots this time.
and it passes the xmms wiggle test.
good work if i may say so.
have a nice evening _________________ proud to be a scout and a chronic penguin hugger

tip, just easier to reconfigure everything is just copy your old config, do make oldconfig then double check with make menuconfig.
btw compiling it now and i'll post an update later, thx for the awesome work!
1st update!
it dies with | Code: | LD vmlinux
arch/i386/kernel/built-in.o(.text+0xe9e4): In function `machine_kexec':
: undefined reference to `use_mm'
make: *** [vmlinux] Error 1 |
but it's not a big deal, i disabled kexec and it compiles fine, i think it might be because i'm using -Os option (just for fun )
gonna boot into it and give another update.
peace |
