There was a neat article in the recent linux journal about a lighting simulation program called radiance.

Unfortunately, I was unable to compile it from the sources or to use the statically linked binaries. The make file is interactive and not of the ./configure; make; make install variety. Still it does give you the option of editing the compiler parameters. I tried lowering the optimization level and also selectively removing other items to no avail.
Still seems like a waste and would really like to try this program on my one and only gentoo box. When I get more time I'll take another stab at it, but if someone has more time before I do; well hey that's what this is all about. _________________ Down with categorical imperative! |

(I just posted a similar reply to a similar post in Multimedia)
Has anyone tried installing Radiance manually?
On a previous Redhat installation, a program I'm running used to call Radiance directly and the package used to run just fine. Didn't have any installation problems.
Just tried it on Gentoo for the first time, and it compiles some of it, but a lot of compile errors along the way ... I'll have to go through them ...
Any essential packages required? |
