Is there anyone who has tried Particle Viewer with GTK+/glib 2.4.4 for some reason I keep on getting:

cannot set up thread-local storage: kernel too old for thread-local storage support

And I have a suspicon it's because I updated my glib today. If anyone can shed light on this thx!

yes, because for TLS support you need a 2.6.x kernel I think....
Or try to compile a redhat patched kernel, it has support for it.
