|
|
I have a small mini-itx board and I'm running into trouble with grub2. Problem is I cannot set the default kernel to boot and it doesn't recognise the keyboard at boot so it only boots the default and it is impossible to change the default. Now with grub it would be just editing "default=x" line but with grub2 this has become so complicated I don't even dare to bother.
Can I just "emerge -C" Grub2 and then install Grub as in the handbook? _________________ Expert in non-working solutions

Spanik,
Yes.
Don't forget to set up your grub.conf _________________ Regards,

Once you have time to experiment, you may want to look at other bootloaders, such as the Syslinux family. They have a simple configuration file, can handle both MBR and GPT partitions, and have worked well on every system where I used them. |

Your keyboard problem may be due to setting in bios for usb. If there's a "legacy" setting for the hub where your keyboard is plugged in, try using that. |

Everything went fine. Just removed Grub2 and grub.conf and put grub_legacy on, wrote a quick grub.conf and it booted first time.
It must be indeed some bios issue, it is the only pc that has this problem. I'll take a look if there is anything usb related tomorrow. _________________ Expert in non-working solutions |
