Hello,
I'm running Gentoo on my BananaPI from an SD card, so I need to avoid write access as much as possible.
My system is running fine but I can see some 'mandb' process running sporadically.
- Is this process doing writing even if no man has changed ?
- any way to avoid it to run ?
Thanks

It's a cron job in /etc/cron.daily/. Just remove it if you don't want it. |

Hello Ant,
Thanks for your reply.
I did some test and yes, mandb is writing its DBs every time it is running.
Consequently, it is better to remove it if /var is on an SD card.
Bye
