| I decided to bust out my old laptop as an opportunity to try out Gentoo. I followed the handbook (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/) and was able to install it successfully using genkernel. I'm trying to now add xmonad and am stuck setting up Xorg via the wiki. (http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Xorg/Configuration) I followed the instructions using "radeon" and am unable to get it to start up. I only get an error message and it stops. I'm a bit new so I searched through different forums for different suggestions and nothing appeared to work, plus it appears some information is old and some items are deprecated. As a result, I decided to start from scratch with a clean install of Gentoo and ran through the steps in Xorg. I have included the Xorg log. (https://clbin.com/XzU9j) I hope I can get some help to steer me in the right direction. |

That did the job!  Thank you. It's good I decided to stick with Gentoo to learn some more about Linux.
Probably may ask this in another section, but I'll bite. The terminal's resolution is more crisp now as a result, but now the screen blanks out with a white screen after inactivity instead of black. Is that (going back to black screen) within my control? |
