Hello,
I use lat9w-09 console font for years on all my configs (~amd64, ~x86, ~arm) and one ~amd64 machine has that problem:
| Code: | consolefont | * Setting console font [lat9w-08] ...
consolefont |setfont: lat9w-08: No such file or directory [ !! ]efont |
consolefont | * ERROR: consolefont failed to start |
I can manually call setfont on the TTYs, the font exists...
I re-emerged kbd and openrc without success, and I don't know where to search.
The configs are similar between a working ~amd64 and this one.
Any help appreciated.

and working on all configs except this one (it worked before...)
The default one as yours don't work either.
I'm running an emerge -e @system to see if it goes better

FOUND !
Some day, I runned by error a initrd script, which deployed a lot of busybox links and instances...
I've cleaned /bin, but not /sbin, which contained consolefont links to busybox.
Links removed, it's OK now
