Can anyone recommend a good GUI ripper that encodes in the Vorbis format? I've tried grip already, but didn't like it. Everything else I've found seems to only support MP3 (or wav). Thanks.

You can use KDE AudioCD slave in konqueror.

grip does a great job as well (change the encoder to ogg's one - make sure you have vorbis-tools inastalled).

Konqueror worked (never used the AudioCD slave before), but it was amazingly slow, taking something like an hour and 20 minutes to copy rip one CD. Also, it doesn't support some of the useful features that I've seen in GUI clients, such as automatic directory creation and custom naming conventions.

grip does all the above.

If you're using kde3.1alpha1 you have KAudioCreator (see under multimedia) which has all the requested features.

Thanks alot for all of the suggestions. I actually came across another another program called abcde (A Better CD Encoder) while searching through the forum. Someone recommended abcde/vorbis instead of using Grip/MP3, which seemed a little familar to my case :) . It's CLI program, but still does CDDB queries, as well as all the other stuff mentioned. Anyone else looking for something similar should check it out. Thanks again!

I prefer grip to abcde. It autorips with absolutely no interaction. Turn off the monitor, stick in a cd and wait till grip spits it out - then put in another. Doesn't get much easier than that!

i tried abcde and grip!
abcde wasn't the best choice for me, i had problems using the config file, couldn't set it up to use higher ogg vorbis quality, don't know what i made wrong with the config file!

After that i tried grip and this was really great, simple interface, easy to set up, you can use it with oggenc and it is working nearly without user interaction!
Great tool!!!

No one has mentioned my personal favorite, RipperX.
It's probably the best gui ripper I've ever used.
Give that a shot... works like a charm!

Check arson (emerge arson). It's a great QT-based ripper, burner, etc.
