Solved, see below
Hi,
first time here, now portage has got my overwhelmed.
My profile is desktop.
I just emerged openbox and razorqt-meta.
Then I changed the useflags of lightdm to have the razor greeter.
Then I wanted to --newuse everything.
Now I have a strange dependency lock I dont understand:
It says it cant merge ffmpeg and libav at the same time.
ffmpeg-1.2.6-r1 gets chosen by gst-plugins-ffmpeg-0.10.13_p202111-r2.
now libav-9.14 gets required by virtual/ffmpeg-9-r1
And
lightdm-1.4.0-r2 is required by razorqt-base/razorqt-ligthdm-greeter-0.5.2-r1
and on update lightdm-1.8.5 gets chosen
Now does the razorqt greeter really need an older llightdm version?
my lightdm got emerged as a dependency of razorqt-meta, not explicitly.
Gotta unmerge, remerge the razor, openbox and lightdm again, to exclude any stupidity I may have done.
But I really dont understand the ffmpeg vs libav lock, can you help me?
EDIT:
Now I have done away the razorqt and lightdm conflict, but the ffmpeg vs libav conflict is still puzzling me.
SOLVED
Aaah ok, its just razorqt's fault.
I didnt notice that it is deprecated and merged with lxqt, guess razorqt is entirely broken and old and disturbs the dependencies. |

I solved ffmpeg vs libav block by setting USE="ffmpeg" and emerging media-video/ffmpeg. _________________ https://github.com/defer- |

I have ffmpeg in USE, too. But reemerging ffmpeg in that constellation did block all the same. |

I know this is old, but just incase anyone looking for the solution as of now there is a news item in eselect news that discusses this now.
If you want to use ffmpeg instead of libav put this in /etc/make.conf USE flags section: -libav

Title ffmpeg/libav conflict management: USE=libav

.
Users who want to use ffmpeg instead need to specify USE=-libav in make.conf explicitly.

I still have ffmpeg in USE, but just added the -libav.
An equery depends on both would show that still more packages depend on ffmpeg.
That got rid of the ffmpeg/libav blocker for me. _________________ Support bacteria – they’re the only culture some people have.”
