So far my experience with Gentoo hasn't presented many problems I couldn't figure out myself, but this is one of them.

After I emerge anything I'm presented with the error messages here:
Code:

File Edit Options Buffers Tools Help

Use emerge @preserved-rebuild to rebuild packages using these libraries
 * After world updates, it is important to remove obsolete packages with
 * emerge --depclean. Refer to `man emerge` for more information.

Okay, not sure what ambiguous USE flags meant, but I can follow instructions, so I
Code:
emerge @preserved-rebuild

Then, it fails to compile, and I have no idea why. This is where I need help.
Excuse the large code box, wgetpaste is telling me
Code:

Apparently nothing was received. Perhaps the connection failed.

Anyway,
Code:
emerge @preserved-rebuild
tells me this:
Code:

ambiguous USE flags means that both berkdb and gdbm use flags are set. Add sys-apps/man-db -berkdb or sys-apps/man-db -gdbm to /etc/portage/package.use.

For the wgetpaste problem post the command you used with the error message.

For the build failure look in /var/tmp/portage/sys-apps/man-db-2.6.6/temp/build.log for the first error.

The wgetpaste command was just "cat warning.txt | wgetpaste". The default paste destination is changing from bpaste.net to something else, perhaps that is the problem?

I set -berkdb for that package.

As for that file, all I found in there was the output I've already seen in STDOUT. "BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/bin/po4a line 547." I've already posted the output of `emerge --info '=sys-apps/man-db-2.6.6::gentoo'` in this thread. I'm going to look at line 547 if I have the file still.

Try running "perl-cleaner --all"

I must have overlooked, too, that perlcleaner needed to run, because of an update.
