upgrade to systemd amd64 no-multilib. kde usb issues

I have been googling and searching the forums to no end..

since the upgrade I have noticed a few things:

after 6 days or so USB becomes unresponsive.. keyboard / mouse inop.

I cannot shutdown/reboot from a KDE session using the panel or desktop > leave > Turnoff or restart computer. I get logged out to a console. logout works as expected.

when plugging a USB drive I cannot mount the drive without root privileges.

anyone have a link / suggestion?
