So, how is ibus run and what does 'emerge -1pv ibus' print ?
Also, are the relevant env vars set correctly ? |

emerge -1pv ibus prints:

They're most likely doing something wrong. 
If you're claiming the vars are set up correctly, do tell what values are they set to (and verify they're indeed set to those values).
Though there's a thing - 'gtk' useflag needs to be set too - immodules for gtk2 and gtk3 are independent. |
