Hi there,
I finished a fresh gentoo install (~amd64) this morning.
I've been trying either to start pppoe with systemd or to start X with openrc.
During the installation process, I was surprised to see a new profile : KDE-systemd . As I knew that systemd will become the default init system soon, I chose the new profile KDE-systemd.
I followed the gentoo-wiki/systemd in order to set sytemd and so I compiled and installed the system until I had to exit chroot and boot for the first time in the newly emerged system.
Trying to start rp-pppoe (pppoe-start) to continue installation - kde & co - failed.
That was the moment of my "madness" init.
Then, I said that the easiest way to get my adsl connection up is to use openrc.
So that I changed the profile to bare KDE, then # env-update # source /etc/profile ,
I configured grub-next to boot up using openRC ,
pppoe-start then worked,
then # emerge -NuD @world.
By this moment, I had USE="-kde -gnome ....etc....etc".
Then I changed USE to "kde -gnome...." and fired up
# emerge kde-base/kdebase-meta
Well, I've got kde emerged finally and wanted to enter the DM..... unsuccessfully. (knosolekit problems then after fix of it, other problems -don't know what prbs - deny starting x
Then, I said , what if I switch back to systemd ? So I did it .
Now I ca enter KDE DM without any other trick but....still NO PPPOE .
Please give me some hints!
I see an openrc-wrapper package to use for use of openrc scripts in a systemd environment but I don't know how reliable might be. _________________ My art at www.danielchiriac.com |
