Oh dear, they are going to destroy a classic and underrated film

Clicky

This was the great review of it 20 years later by Mark Kermode: Film Club: Point Break

It was sad 20 years ago. Though that was mostly due to Keanu.

Yes yes but it's still an awesome movie. :D
Why remakes? Where is the art? Bottom-liners are killing us, it must be more profitable to make a remake than to risk doing something fresh? Humanity is definitely shit when artists are calculating.

I predict it goes straight to DVD. Total flop.

As the saying goes, there's no accounting for taste.

Money and the bet that younger people who've never seen the old one and/or wouldn't care to see the geezers in it.

Sometimes I think you're from Stockholm, smug as you are. But then I remember that you are probably just exceptional.

Yeah, but IT is not IT anymore, you dig?
That's like your first love was a redhead called Anna, and you spend your life searching for a redhead with the same attributes. Let it go already, get a new girl.
Create your own damn movie.

Whoever came up with that term probably didn't give any thought to the fact that it is a synonym of "abnormal".

I'd just wish they'd leave all these films alone. I can't think of one that is better - or even as good - as the original

Yeah, I dig. But you're missing the point. It has nothing to do with you searching for a redhead with the same attributes. They are presenting a generically similar redhead to a new group of people in hopes she'll be appealing to THEM. You, sir, have no relevance to the equation! :P

In general, I agree that all the remakes with little "new," makes for an uncompelling product.

I can think of a couple. Invasion of the Body Snatchers was better than its original. The Thing was better than its original. The Fly was better than its original. Ocean's 11 was better than its original.

Well, ok I can live with that, I am getting old.
But the privilege of existence and age is my point of view. Also, I am not dead, I'd like to watch NEW movies. Not remakes. So please, can someone talk to those muppets in Hollywood? Fix it PJP, we are counting on you! :)

I mean really, they have gone too far... what's next they will remake Blade Runner? Justin Beiber as Deckard? For fucks sake!

Assuming I had the influence to meet with them, I'd just want a cut

Maybe they're going to go full-on LBGTQQIPIP2SAA in this version, instead of just having the two principals having a "bromance". Maybe that's why we need a full remake: to make it relevant to our LBGTQQIPIP2SAA society.

 yeah it's getting rather silly with all those acronyms. I like the hippie version better, "live and let live". Takes care of all those cases and the future ones. Oh well, autistic people took over the world, the downside of the IT-age.

Apart from Ocean's 11 they're all 80s films, remade by people (John Carpenter for instance) who truly loved the originals instead of Hollywood wanting to squeeze more money out of a premise
