|

Hello Gentoo community,
I am having issues with my sound. I have updated my kernel recently from 3.7.10-gentoo to 3.12.21-gentoo-r1 and got the kernel updated successfully. The sound I had at the time on this kernel was only working through my headphones only. I booted into my old kernel and it worked fine. some time ago, My device disappeared, and the kde control module was unable to select my default audio device and no audio device was working. My sound stopped working on both kernels. My sound card is (according to lspci | grep -i audio)
Code: | 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation NM10/ICH7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) |
I referred to the ALSA on gentoo wiki to attempt to fix my sound issues. It was a failure even after I checked and recompiled my kernel. Still, nothing succeeded. I am currently using ALSA, and not pulseaudio for my soundcard.
All help will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,

Hello,
I am unsure where to proceed.
Here is the output of
Code: | cat /usr/src/linux/.config | grep SND_HDA |
in wgetpaste: http://bpaste.net/show/468750
I could use further clarification. I see that most of the codecs are set to yes in my .config as shown above.
Sincerely,

Hello,
Update: The command
Code: | cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 | head |
displays a Realtek ALC272 codec in my hardware.
I hope this information should be helpful.

Hello Gentoo Community,
I booted into my other operating systems of linux and the sound didn't work on linux mint. I then checked Ubuntu to see if it was a bios problem but my sound worked in Ubuntu. I then tried linux mint again and the sound was working. I checked my gentoo and the problem corrected itself.
I appreciate your help.
Thank you all for your time and support.
Sincerely,
