why? we don't need to cage children so some BBC presenters and tories can rape them. Under the watchful eye of Mrs Thatcher.

We got the 'Odenwaldschule' for that. No fence. Just mental torture.

Yeah, Germans don't need to do that. They have better solutions.

What?!

You can't be serious.

Let's see... you force someone to learn the most-spoken language of the world and you think that is a punishment? Are you a Turk?

Which is a Germanic language, albeit in part.

You don't understand. They force the kids to learn English while the teachers that are supposed to teach them don't actually know the language well enough to read it.

No, I don't understand. Really.

You're saying German teachers don't know English well enough to teach them, yet the course/curriculum includes English?

Exactly. It's designed to be insanely frustrating so as to torture the kids.

You either commit suicide, become a depressed drone - the intended result - or you pick up English and move the hell out of that dump.

I can't imagine it to be that difficult for a German to learn English. You're exaggerating.

when I left school after 7 years of useless english indoctrination, I had trouble to read, speaking or writing? almost impossible.

One year using the internet taught me more english than the whole school system.

I mostly concur. I assume the reason is to increase your resilence against intelligence. Dumb people buy McDonald's, watch reality tv and don't care about politics.

The problem isn't English, it is your teachers conspiring to sabotage the learning process.

If that's what you meant in the first place...

English is the easiest language in the world. Unlike other languages, it doesn't assign gender to nouns.

which is one of the reasons why it is so horrible. Information loss is not tolerable.

Is your non-existent mustache male or female?

I'm pretty sure a Frenchman can answer that with ease.

You should see what reading Star Trek in English does to you in one year. :)

I challenge the non native speakers to enjoy some of our 14th century poetry.

Quote:
Grisilde is deed, and eek hire pacience,
And bothe atones buried in Itaille
For which I crye in open audience
No wedded man so hardly be t'assaille
His wyves pacience, in hope to finde
Grisildes, for in certein he shall failed

. . .

Folweth Ekko, that holdeth no silence,
But evere answereth at the countretaille;
Beth nat bidaffed for youre innocence
But sharply tak on yow the governaille.
Emprinteth well this lesson in youre minde
For commune profit, Sith it may availle

It's just a way of saying. Our refers to those of us who are the audience of it and the linguistic offspring this work produced .

Eh, that's not so bad. My ex studied Middle High German or something like that. THAT was strange to read.

I'm sure these students will grow up to be fine British citizens and contribute much to society. In Canada.
