Following this thread for passthroughing graphics cards to a kernel virtual machine with qemu, I noticed some patches weren't working on Gentoo (I assume this is because gentoo has modified sources)

I made gentoo compatible versions of the patches I noticed didn't work, namely the debug registers patch and the ACS override patch. the rest of the patches can be found conveniently listed here and they all seemed to work by putting them into /etc/portage/patches/... without any modifications.

Here is the ACS_Override patch (mostly needed for intel processors) and here is the debug registers patch for any who need them 8)

Just to save you the manual labor of loads of copying and pasting code and (re)creating these patches on your own.

I've been meaning to give it a go on my Optimus laptop, but it appears the op is outdated. And I don't feel like going through 70 pages to learn what I need :/

I've been passing through (radeon) for a while with no patches, using vfio-pci.

I think success depends on which version of qemu and the kernel is being used.
I've had limited success on passing through nvidia cards, but they seem to be a PITA in general for this use.

May I interest you with a shorter version?

Although I don't know about the optimus cards, haven't heard of anyone using two intergrated cards :/ all depends on what your lspci output is if it's possible (from my point of view anyways :D )
