When I run Amarok, it shows no local files, whereas in the past it had successfully scanned and allowed me to play files. When I go into Settings -> Configure -> Local Collection it shows no directories checked. When I check directories and click ok and then go back into the configure screen the directories are again unchecked. If i start Amarok from a shell prompt, I see the following message when I click ok on newly selected directories:
Code:
amarok(26986)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig:
X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3
  Major opcode: 20 (X_GetProperty)
  Resource id:  0x4200227

Thanks in advance for your help!

It looks that you also run into this problem:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=508824

I use this workaround :
LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/lib64/mysql" amarok

to start amarok.

Wow. That worked. I looked at that bug report and thought it must be something else, since I don't have mariadb installed.

Thanks!

Thank you! more than a week not able to listen to music at home....

I created the env.d file suggest to avoid having to start amarok with the LD_PATH parameter every time.

it looks like this bug has been allegedly fixed in amarok. https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=508824

however, my local collection isn't getting saved in amarok.

using the workaround to run amarok from command line by

Code:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/lib64/mysql" amarok

works.

Code:

mark@lightning ~ $ emerge -s amarok
