Hello,

I don't know if this is the right place to complain, but I couldn't find the email of the ebuild provider and reporting this as a bug doesn't seem right to me either.

However, what happened to the color useflag in rtorrent? It's still there until version 0.8.9, but compiling this version didn't work for me, so I'm using 0.9.3 now (~amd64) and wonder about the color.

Can I somehow get it back by editing the ebuild?

Teegrins, Yopaku!

I've not looked thoroughly into it, but it does seem it is possible, probably, to get it back.

It does, however, also seem that it might be more involved than simply editing the ebuild:

Version bump (#bug 411041), drop upstreamed patches and support for color. Too
much work to keep working and delays updates.

It's probably not the answer you were hoping for, but I do hope this helps!

It's definitely possible, although this patch seems to be for 0.9.4 (rtorrent on Gentoo hasn't been updated yet).

As an alternative, transmission-remote-cli has colours. I would recommend transmission as it has a daemon out the box, lots of UI's, supports IPv6 and a load of other features, it's well maintained and it's really light.

But is it as lightweight as rtorrent?

EDIT: How would I implement that patch by myself?

I'm a little disappointed about that also man.
Someone might need to remove the description ... or is that something else

Code:
milton@milton ~ $ grep -i rtorrent /usr/portage/profiles/use.local.desc
net-p2p/rtorrent:color - Add custom color support for torrent list
net-p2p/rtorrent:daemon - Uses app-misc/screen to daemonize this application

Only net-p2p/rtorrent-0.8.9 has USE="color".
Code:
grep color /usr/portage/net-p2p/rtorrent/rtorrent-0.*.ebuild -c
/usr/portage/net-p2p/rtorrent/rtorrent-0.8.9.ebuild:7
