Hi,
I am trying to emerge a package, but I get these errors:

Code:
z3 tmp # emerge cppcheck

 * IMPORTANT: 4 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'.
 * Use eselect news to read news items.

 * Last emerge --sync was 1y 339d 13h 51m 27s ago.

 * IMPORTANT: 8 config files in '/etc/portage' need updating.
 * See the CONFIGURATION FILES section of the emerge
 * man page to learn how to update config files.
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild  N    ~] dev-util/cppcheck-1.54  USE="-htmlreport -qt4"

The following keyword changes are necessary to proceed:
#required by cppcheck (argument)
=dev-util/cppcheck-1.54 ~amd64

Use --autounmask-write to write changes to config files (honoring CONFIG_PROTECT).

 * IMPORTANT: 4 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'.
 * Use eselect news to read news items.

z3 tmp #

I tried this without luck:
Code:
z3 tmp # USE="-htmlreport -qt4" emerge cppcheck

 * IMPORTANT: 4 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'.
 * Use eselect news to read news items.

 * Last emerge --sync was 1y 339d 13h 53m 40s ago.

 * IMPORTANT: 8 config files in '/etc/portage' need updating.
 * See the CONFIGURATION FILES section of the emerge
 * man page to learn how to update config files.

What is exactly the problem and how to fix it ?

TIA

Your last sync was about 1.6 years too long ago.
