Every time I launch gedit, its preferences are always reset to the defaults. I have to go into Preferences and configure gedit to display line numbers and to enable certain plugins every time I launch the application! gedit used to save these settings. This is getting really, really old. What can I do to make my changes in Preferences stick?

Yep. That was it!
I'm not going to keep a text editor that is incapable, on its own, of saving its own preferences. After many long years, I'm kicking gedit to the curb. It's ridiculous for something like a text editor to be so tied to an entire desktop environment.
Kate is looking pretty good. |
