Hi, ALL,
I'm running GNOME 2 and when it starts I'm seeing this:

Code:

The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_NetstatusApplet".
Do you want to delete the applet from your configuration?

I can say "Don't Delete" and it does not do any harm AFAICS, but I'd like to know why this message appears and how to eliminate it.

Thank you.

DONAHUE,
Code:

IgorReinCloud igor # emerge -1av gnome-netstatus

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild   R    ] net-analyzer/gnome-netstatus-2.28.2  USE="-debug" 572 kB

Total: 1 package (1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 572 kB

Thank you.

if you ran
Code:
emerge -1av gnome-netstatus

and restarted X/gnome and still got the error; try
Code:
emerge -1 gnome-menus libwnck gnome-desktop libgweather gnome-panel gnome-netstatus
restart X/gnome. If you still get the error
Code:
cd ~
rm -rf .gnome*
restart X/gnome. If you still have the error, =net-analyzer/gnome-netstatus-2.28.2 is the only version listed at packages.gentoo.org, so you can't change versions. You may want to delete the applet or just live with the nag message.
No gentoo bug report exists for gnome-netstatus.

DONAHUE,
I just booted into Gentoo, started GNOME and then immediately closed it.
Now on the terminal I see following:

Code:

** (gnome-panel:3542): WARNING **: Failed to load applet OAFIID:GNOME_NetstatusApplet
failed to get Bonobo/Control interface

Does it give a clue of whats happening?

Thank you
