Hi,
I have installed the Java browser plug-in but I receive messages about it being insecure.
I've installed the following packages and have used the nsplugin USE flag where appropriate:
oracle-jdk-bin-1.7.0.51
oracle-jre-bin-1.7.0.51
emul-linux-x86-java-1.7.0.51
However, when I disable it and visit about:plugins I see that it is listed as such:
Code: |
Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_45
File: libnpjp2.so
Path: /opt/oracle-jdk-bin-1.7.0.51/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
Version:
State: Disabled (STATE_VULNERABLE_UPDATE_AVAILABLE)
The next generation Java plug-in for Mozilla browsers.

Why is it saying that the Plug-in version is 1.6.0_45 if everything I installed says it is 1.7.0.51? The plug-in works perfectly so it would be a shame to have to avoid using it due to security concerns. If anyone could tell me how to fix this I would appreciate it.
Thanks. |

Ah, I see now. I sort of merged my post into one question but forgot to add that the newer (1.7) JRE is also said to be vulnerable. Any idea where I can get an updated/secured JRE? |
