Trying to install gentoo-ix86-1.2.iso on an older PC I'm using as a testbed. I've successfully installed Redhat 7.2 (Valhalla) and a prior Gentoo on it before but this time I get this when I boot from CD:
ISOLINUX 1.67 2002-02-03 ...
Welcome to the Gentoo Linux Install CD! ...
boot:
Loading kernel ...
Loading rescue.gz..............
ready.
No setup signature found ...
The only change recently was to replace an older IDE video card w/2mb RAM with an I/O Magic nVidia clone w/32mb RAM (AGP).
What could be causing Gentoo to carsh and burn like this?
Thanks,
Joe |

Where did you get the CD. Did you make it yourself? If so i'd check the MD5 sums to make sure your download isn't screwed up. And do you still have a prior install of linux on the box? You could try to install off of that instead of the CD. _________________ -- Michael

I d/l and burned the .iso The md5 checks out as best I can tell (the md5sum output matches value stored in the .iso.md5 ... this is my first time using md5sum). The target PC has Redhat currently loaded on it, but no burner. I removed the prior Gentoo install because of various problems after a successful install, that I wasn't able to work on at the time. |
