You want overlays and repositories ? TRY OPENSUSE !! to even get basic functionality you have to add some 4 or 5 repositories ! ( same with other to a more or less degree ).

Gentoo must be the distribution with the need for less overlays or repositories.

No wonder devs are calling it quits, nowadays every kid has internet and an opinion to spill on the internet. If not a kid in body, certainly a kid in brain.
They do an awesome work, and then someone who does nothing comes here complain that is all pointless because of 3 days late.

My opinion: Gentoo is not about ricing/ bleeding edge/ 1337 / etc. There is arch linux for that.
