Hi there.
Quote: | !!! Couldn't download 'GoogleEarthLinux-7.1.1.1888_amd64.deb'. Aborting.
* Fetch failed for 'sci-geosciences/googleearth-7.1.1.1888', Log file:
* '/var/tmp/portage/sci-geosciences/googleearth-7.1.1.1888/temp/build.log'
* Wrong checksum or file size means that Google silently replaced the distfile with a newer version.
* Note that Gentoo cannot mirror the distfiles due to license reasons, so we have to follow the bump.
* Please file a version bump bug on https://bugs.gentoo.org (search existing bugs for googleearth first!).
* By redigesting the file yourself, you will install a different version than the ebuild says, untested!
| In bugs I found https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482046
Adding sse2 into /etc/portage/package.use doesn't work.

apiaio,
Google changed the file without a change to the version.
The file you have is the file that Google wants you to have but it has changed since the ebuild was made.
Hence the Quote: | By redigesting the file yourself, you will install a different version than the ebuild says, untested! |
If you feel lucky, find the download in /usr/portage/distfiles, fix the file name to be GoogleEarthLinux-7.1.1.1888_amd64.deb
Run the command Code: | ebuild /path/to/GoogleEarthLinux-7.1.1.1888.ebuild manifest | and portage will make the manifest match the file you downloaded.
Now emerge will run and install whatever is in GoogleEarthLinux-7.1.1.1888_amd64.deb
Hopefully, its GoogleEarth. _________________ Regards,

That bug is a report that the reporter has a CPU which Google has decided not to support any longer. Your problem is that, as stated in the quoted block, Google bumped the version without changing the filename and thus broke the digest check. This is very bad practice by Google, but the Gentoo maintainers cannot get them to behave well. |
