Updated to kernel v3.10,25 during routine (emerge -uDNav) update. Ran "grub2-mkconfig > /boot/grub/grub.cfg". New kernel boots fine. Modules (b43) seem to be loaded, but wicd can't find my home network. Boot into kernel 3.10.17 again, and everything seems to work fine,
What changed? And how do I fix it? _________________ -= the D@7@k|n& =-

Any errors in either logs or dmesg?
If there are some: post them here... |

Nothing stands out in dmesg (can post later), or logs that I can find. Though there are some complaints on boot that "operations are not allowed", but I'm not sure how to capture that. I think this may have something to do with the way the kernel was built (ran only make oldconfig and not make mrconfig or make clean -- normally run all). Going to try rebuilding the kernel and see what that does. _________________ -= the D@7@k|n& =- |

Seems like the kernel config didn't carry over completely from 3.10.17 to 3.10.25. I added support for 802.11n for the Broadcom NIC (as well as the Atheros support for my USB NIC), the onboard (Broadcom) wifi NIC now successfully associates with my home network.
I didn't think that this NIC was 802.11n capable (it's an older laptop), but maybe something in the kernel option provided something the NIC was expecting.
One thing to note, the LED still isn't working even though that kernel option isp enabled. That may just be a matter of boot/wifi enabled synchronicity (or lack thereof). _________________ -= the D@7@k|n& =- |
