Hello, I was wondering if someone can help with my new (To me.) ThinkPad T61. I got most everything working except for the sound card and the ThinkVantage. If anyone knows how to fix this I would be grateful.

Thanks.

can you bpaste the output of #dmesg | grep -i less

that would tell us what is under the hood of your laptop and finding the right drivers for the sound card at least.

From a quick look at various posts on thinkvantage on linux it seems that there is no support for it.
Can you tell us what benefit that was provided by it you need now , since the program touches pretty everything in a lenovo laptop.

I would guess what you need help with is probably battery life or cpu related.

Unfortunately something seems to be blocking my fan and the comp's fail safes are stopping it from booting. But I should have this fixed tomorrow... If the problem is what I think it is.

Honesty I don't know what ThinkVantage is... All I know is something is the config menu said I could get it working on Linux.

Sorry that took so long, but I'm back now.

Code:
[    0.936453] iwl4965: Intel(R) Wireless WiFi 4965 driver for Linux, in-tree:
[    0.939317] iwl4965 0000:03:00.0: Detected Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN, REV=0x4

This seems more like a WiFi thing...

You could try here - the post are probably a bit elderly.

Thinkwiki is a good resource for information regarding TPs, though.

Turns out I just forgot to set the ALSA use flag.

(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

But I reinstated so I could use ROX instead of Xfce... But if you still want to help:
