i was wondering if someone could recommend a good GTK editor for programming (i do mainly php)? i've seen a few threads similiar to my question but they are all looking for QT based editors. i also need to have the ability to save to a remote host (via FTP, my personal favorite editor UltraEdit does this, but it's windows and i'd rather use a native solution). anyone have any good suggestions?

gvim - vim with gnome. Not sure about the ftp part.
emacs or xemacs-gtk - can do everything basically. They can edit files transparently over ftp using ange-ftp.

I use Moleskine currently but it lacks the FTP functionality. The only editor with FTP open/save functionality so far was Pepper but that one isn't free and uses some own tolkit. It didn't work very well for me.
The Moleskine maintainer is working on a Gnome 2 port though and this will definetly have FTP functionality. I can't wait for it!

Can Bluefish or Anjuta save to or open from FTP files?
