Ah but who says that China will not be victor in long run over the US? I think you assume that superior position of US will go on forever, where all empiric data show that empires have a lifecycle. To victor go the spoils indeed.

Red herring. I never said anything about the U.S., and the U.S. has nothing to do with this. I said only that Europe should not foolishly give its space technology and methods away to China. I also laughed at the poetic justice of this, given the extent to which Europe has exploited and generally ass-fucked China over the past five hundred years. How that has anything to do with the U.S. is beyond me. I assume you guys just have nothing better to say but feel compelled to blurt something out, like Mr. Nationalistic Tourette's Guy or something.

A picture is worth a thousand worlds. I think this can be summed up by this post-industrial impressionistic artwork.

The Russians won the race to the moon, while the US American Ranger programme was a firework of failures.

wildhorse, instead of engaging in this debate about whose achievements and capabilities in Space best the others (a debate you are destined by the sad facts of reality to lose), you should be arguing the real European position: that Space really isn't that important and other than a little for orbital technologies, money is best used for other purpose.

That is hardly the European position. Space sciences and technologies are important.

m'kay :?

Then, if it's not a low priority, then why is Europe so lacking in space achievements and so far behind, being surpassed even by recently industrialized China (who are 65 years behind us)? What's the problem? Lack of cooperation within Europe?

No: I think it's just not seen as important by most Europeans. What other explanation is there?

The Europeans think it is important, they only lack the ability. Besides, the USA will continue to subsidize, by doing all the heavy lifting, and sharing all the data.

And here is a complimentary drama queen eye roll in honor of our own drama queen, my little pony.

Another lunar rover pic for you, little girl.

I think he should get a poster of the first one (the one with the American flag in it), for his bedroom. He could photoshop it first with a Spaniard flag, and put on his bedroom wall.

The closest Spaniards have ever been to the moon was deploying the Armada in a half-moon formation while sailing up the English Channel to their defeat and destruction.

Yep, the US space program is the only one to suffer losses. You are such a TOOL.

In case you don't know the US slang definition of tool. According to the Urban Dictionary: One who lacks the mental capacity to know he is being used. A fool. A cretin.

BTW: The Russians were also the first to build a space station. After building a trash can called Skylab, the Yanks decided they need help from Europe. But because of their Nazi attitude, the Chinese had to stay out. Now the Chinese build their own space station. Again:
