I wonder which driver is best for normal use (movies, series, flash, office, etc) and 2D games, play station emulators, etc.
Radeon or Fglrx. Thanks.
I have 7770 GPU. |

Fglrx is better for 3D. For other cases both do fine. |

Funny thing is I'm also using an HD7770. Everything works great it's pretty fast for all my 2D needs and I can play 3D games fine. However you'll want to unmask mesa 9.2 first so you can use Glamor and Gallium3D.
While radeon contains firmware blobs I consider Catalyst to be worse because the entire thing is a binary blob. Stay away from any binary blob drivers you come across. Sure it's convenient using them but in the end all they do is hurt GNU/Linux. I would recommend staying away from binary firmware blobs too but in radeon's case it isn't possible without everything running like utter crap. |
