Add node to multicast group (is IP multicast dead?).

Nothing turns up in search engine results.

Suppose, I've got this group 225.1.1.1 and I want to add a Linux/Gentoo box to it.

I add routes as such --

route add -net 225.1.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 dev eth1

As with case case of multicast broadcast address 224.0.0.1. But the nodes do not respond.
