radeon for open source driver
fglrx for proprietary driver
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Radeon
http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Fglrx
the radeon wiki shows disabling radeon framebuffer (so i'd go with vesa)
the fglrx wiki doesn't show the same (but i'd still probably go with vesa) _________________ Unanswered posts need love too.

I can't speak for fglrx (so maybe this won't help knACk all that much) but vesa is *not* required for radeon (OSS) driver because the drm driver (quietly, you don't seem to find it in config) includes 'radeondrmfb' frame buffer. On my system (which is pure EFI, I should mention) radeondrmfb takes over from the generic EFI FB during boot. Whether this is true of all Radeon hardware I dunno, just thought I should mention it. |
