Off topic here, but I hate it when SW companies sell software at different prices whether it's used for academic or home use. I suppose they're worried home use can be used for commercial use... Dunno.

On a side note I wonder if it's possible to get a free copy of ia64 Windows which M$ doesn't seem to even support anymore...
Alas I probably need to wear an eyepatch to get such for that price...

Students could run a business too, so that isn't really it. The reason they give it cheap to students is to lure them for after they get a job. They'll be familiar with the product and seek it, recommend it or buy it. I still think they're making a mistake in not having some kind of Technet subscription service for professionals.
