It doesn't matter what type of console I use, although I normally use KDE's konsole. I am prompted for my passphrase instead of being connected.
The keychain commend works just fine (you're not seeing the first run here): Code: | $ keychain .ssh/id_rsa
* keychain 2.7.1 ~ http://www.funtoo.org
* Found existing ssh-agent: 2568
* Found existing gpg-agent: 2593
* Known ssh key: .ssh/id_rsa

But I'm still getting prompted for the passphrase (something broke this recently): Code: | $ ssh succotash
Enter passphrase for key '/home/user/.ssh/id_rsa': |

In ~/.zshrc I changed an old record to
Code: | eval `keychain --eval ~/.ssh/shell_rsa`
[[ -f $HOME/.keychain/$HOSTNAME-sh ]] && source $HOME/.keychain/$HOSTNAME-sh
