The old gentoo-wiki had an article for setting up joysticks and gamepads, but I guess that wiki is gone. And somewhere in the past several months, something apparently changed and now my gamepad doesn't seem to be recognized anywhere anymore. Is there a modern guide for joystick hardware anywhere, either for Gentoo or generic?

Okay, it seems my problem was due to my gamepads each being plugged into my one USB 3.0 port, which apparently no longer works. Problem solved (except for the USB 3 one, which I haven't started on yet).
In any case, I'd still like to suggest a gamepad/joystick article for the wiki. Does an archive for gentoo-wiki.com at least exist somewhere?
