I installed Gentoo base system on my old Desktop.
now I am trying to install xorg and lxde which is my favourit DE.
I could install xorg-x11 and xorg-server.
but when I install xf86-video-intel to start up X, I get this:
Code: | install xf86-video-intel
the following USE changes are necessary to proceed:
(see "package.use" in the portage(5) man page for more detail)
....................
.....................
etc.............. |
so, what about they are...
I read handbook and wiki pages.
but they really confuse me because I am very new one to gentoo and genttoo itself mentions a lot of choices and about what-if.
it's good but ............................ |

Apparently, you skipped the step of setting your video card in make.conf Add VIDEO_CARDS="intel" (froum your post, I assume your video card is an intel) to your make.conf and run emerge -1av xorg-drivers that should pull xf86-video-intel automatically.
The Xorg guide is here for a more complete description of how to setup xorg. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box. |
