Installation on Apple Quicksilver (Nvidia Graphics)

Can that be done at all using Gentoo Linux? The framebuffer seams to be initialized, I can see text for a brief moment, but suddenly my monitor activates its power saving mode. This might be, because the framebuffer uses a resolution it cannot cope with.

Does that sound reasonable? Can I change the default resolution at all? I know I can use the vga=<someting> kernel parameter on x86, but does this work on ppc?

Any advice would be great!!
