For some reason I am unable to start ncmpcpp when upgrading mpd to 0.18.x. Downgrading to <0.18 makes it work again without fail. Any help pinpointing an error would be great.

Some facts that might be helpful:
* Tried several other similar clients like ncmpc and vimpc, and they all seem to be unable to get a connection.
* conky works seemingly without problems (possibly after exporting MPD_HOST in my .bashrc, but I think that was for mpc).
* mpd 0.18 made changes to its status object where crossfade would not be present if crossfade was 0. I manually patched sonata to work past this, but it seems libmpdclient, which I believe ncmpcpp and similar use, don't have this same problem, but I could be misreading the code.

With the patching on sonata, I've been trying to look at code to try and fix this, but it seems unbelievable that ALL these clients just don't work. I mean, they must have users? So that must mean that some settings must be weird? Then again, mpd <0.18 works, no problem, and (my patched) sonata, and conky, and mpc, all work across versions without changes.

I have both
mpd.conf:
bind_to_address "192.168.0.xxx"
bind_to_address "localhost"
so most connections should work in theory. Any other settings or other things anyone can think of that would mess this up?
