http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-23138073

Quote:
US intelligence leaker Edward Snowden has applied to Russia for political asylum, Russian officials say.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-23135734

And Putin asked him to stop his leaks.

Putin wrote:
"Russia never hands over anybody anywhere and has no intention to do so," Mr Putin told a news conference in Moscow.

"If he (Snowden) wants to remain here there is one condition - he should stop his work aimed at inflicting damage on our American partners no matter how strange this may sound coming from me."

Apparently, he has applied 15 countries for asylum.

So, if he applies to Germany, would he get it? Nope. Even Russia isn't granting him asylum.

The dude's done.

Putin really doesn't need this. He's got this information decades ago.

So, he's gaining nothing with him there. Hot potato is the expression that fits the dude.

Russia already has all of his files, so they don't want him leaking them to anyone else. I do think he will get assylum in Russia.

Would it be worth doing if you knew you'd end up effectively imprisoned in Russia. I don't think I could say yes.

Here's the list of countries he's asking for asylum.

Quote:
In addition to Russia, China and India, WikiLeaks said it had sent new asylum requests to representatives of Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, Norway, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and Venezuela.

Wow. Russia, China, India, Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela. I might play tyranny roulette and take my chances with US law.

Wow, you're still saying that? Living in a country that spies on its own people?

Bolivia leader's jet diverted on suspicion of Snowden on board.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-23156360

Nothing extraordinary about the news, except this:
Quote:
France and Portugal reportedly refused to allow the Bolivia-bound flight to cross their airspace.

France. The country with the most schrill voice on freedom, liberty and human rights.

And yet tried to institute a 75% tax rate. Quite the opposite of liberty and human rights.

The country with the most anti-American views is America's bitch.

It's increasingly starting to look like he's doomed to live in Sheremetyevo airport for a long time.

Hope he has to goods left to embarrass the american stasi even more.

Nothing extraordinary? What about this (from your link):
Quote:
On Tuesday, National Intelligence Director James Clapper apologised for telling Congress in March that the NSA did not have a policy of gathering data on millions of Americans.

He said in a letter to Dianne Feinstein, head of the Senate intelligence committee, that his answer had been "clearly erroneous".

Why isn't Clapper begging countries for asylum to avoid life in jail?

Exactly. "Erroneous", my ass. "Treasonous" is more like it.

We need to stop tolerating this "oops I mis-spoke" and "I had no knowledge of what my subordinates were doing" bullshit.

Yeah? What are you going to do?

Vote Republican? Or not vote at-all?

We should spend $170 million, 3 years, have the Senate not convict him, then censure him.
