Brazil dominates and humiliates Spain, 3 - 0.

Brazil, on home turf, effectively pressured and disrupted the Spanish ground passing game by persistently making aggressive midfield challenges and with superior individual skills.

I suspect the Brazilians cleverly fed the Spaniards a special cucumber salad the night before.

I have no clue about fotball actually, except for two things, one that it is fun watching brazil do it, and two that barcelona got buttpirated by some german team. Nevertheless, I am supportive of BK's psychodelic venture into the world of soccer. Forward you brave sportonaut! Let the sails be pregnant with wind!

My dad was a soccer coach for 25 years and has a stadium and a coaching award named after him and a book written about him. I was captain of my high school team, but dropped out of it in college. I haven't really followed pro soccer since the days I wanted to be Pele', but I do enjoy the game.

Do you think Neymar is going to fit in well at Barcelona? He's used to being #1 in a team and having a team built around him but he'll have several players better than him at Barca

I don't know enough about his personality, or Messi's, to really say. My guess would be yes. There's a lot of pressure on them to make it work. Issues could arise later, though, even if he fits in initially. What do you think?

We've talked about it in here before, like the time when AidanJT argued relentlessly that physical fitness is unimportant in the sport.

I remember back in the 80's in Yugoslavia, there was this idea that the sense of the game, creativity, character, skillset and group spirit if you want was most important. The result was that often when we played more professional teams, Germany in particular, we would maybe score 1:0 or 2:1, and relax at 70-80 min mark, and get steamrolled by 3 goals in 10 minutes. Half of the team were drinking and smoking

It really depends on the mentality of the guy. He's a bit of a sulker and he's used to being a big fish in a small pond. There is no doubt he has the skill and ability to be one of the greatest players in the world but he is not the finished article and needs to be trained in the particular way that Barca play, i.e. pass the opposing team off the pitch with tiki-taka

American football is the worst. They put all the effort on physical fitness. Nothing else. But physical fitness helps a lot if you know football. (see Hulk :P)

Prenj, the last Yugoslav team was perfect.

See that perfect dribbling:

Why now Balkans suck at football ? :S
(with a small exception in Euro 2004 :P)

Tiki-Taka is as entertaining as Catenaccio (also known as the most boring football as possible).

Stupid (and thievery like) way of playing. English is better.

Also Real's way of playing is boring.

Example of Real's way of playing:

The holding from thievery, differs little. -Greek proverb

True, it was really good. I know there is this risk for romantic nostalgia bias thing, but I think objectively, everything was awesome just before it went to poop, last 1-2 years. Oh, well. We'll nail it in next iteration :)

You'd class a group of obese people on a pitch "fit"?

American football doesn't emphasize fitness, it emphasizes maximum kinetic energy and moment of inertia (except for the players who actually handle the ball). American soccer is just weak, and nobody really cares what it emphasizes; practically all the emphasis is on other sports. If we could get all our young Negroes interested in soccer, you guys would have to hang it up and start getting more into field hockey or something. :P
