Hello,
i just tried my first installation of Gentoo(in a virtual machine) and followed the handbook for amd64.
At the step to get the kernel-sources the installation fails with: "Failed to install sys-fs/static-dev0.1, .... We have detected that you currently use udev or devfs or devtmofs and this ebuild cannot install to the same mount-point...."
It would be nice if somone could help me with this

snsmac,
Welcome to Gentoo.
You should not be needing sys-fs/static-dev0.1 unless you are going well off the beaten track.
Rather, you should be using a device manager like udev, eudev, mdev or others.
It sounds like you have an odd setting.
Please post the output of from your chroot. _________________ Regards,
